In the context of regional economic development in West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, identification of regional potential is absolutely necessary so that policies on development patterns can be established both sectorally and in a multi-sectoral manner. In this case, the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Management – IPB also took part and took steps to identify economic potential in West Manggarai Regency. One step to identify regional economic potential is to map potential commodities, priority commodities and regional superior commodities in each sub-sector.
With good mapping, it is hoped that the right program can be developed so that the regions are able to seize opportunities to develop the regional economy. The ultimate goal is to improve people’s welfare. And for IPB, it can contribute significantly to economic development in West Manggarai Regency.
The objectives of the activity are:  Identifying the potential of West Manggarai Regency commodities,  Obtaining a portrait of the current condition of West Manggarai Regency and  Formulating a proposal for the development and cooperation program of West Manggarai Regency and IPB. The activity was carried out on December 17-22, 2017 with the stages of implementing activities including:  Collection of secondary data in SKPD and BPS,  Interviews with SKPD, and  Surveys in 11 sub-districts.
The results of this activity were presented by an expert team from the Department of Management, -FEM IPB to the District Head of West Manggarai Regency (Drs. Agustinus Ch. Dula) along with the official heads of offices in the West Manggarai Regent office, and also included in the identification of regional potential reports.
