PT. Bogor Life Science and Technology (BLST) is the Holding Company under the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) for Botany Plaza area. This company has planned to revitalized the business area. The Business Development Manager of PT BLST, Erick Wahyudyono, said that the revitalizing program will include the restructuring process of Botany Plaza field areas which includes Damri bus terminal, and tourist buses and public parking areas. Revitalization program will improve the cleanliness, neatness, the security of the areas. Erick said the parking area will be re-arranged to improve the convenience for its users, and also to increase parking capacity. In addition, the well-managed parking process will assist the Bogor Municipality to reduce the illegal parking. Properly managing and regulating parking can reduce fatalities and will improve the municipality revenues.
Botani Plaza is right alongside the Botani Square. It is the largest and most comprehensive shopping malls in Bogor, which has been in operation since 2006. Located in a strategic area right in the heart of the city of Bogor with an area of 4.6 hectares, Botani Square also features the convention center in the city’s grandest, the IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Hotel Santika and IPB Convention Hotel. The Shopping Malls carries the concept of family, lifestyle and entertainment, accordingly they should provide comfort for the its visitors. Thus the revitalization of the Botany Plaza should be implemented immediately for the convenience for its visitors. In addition, to ensure the hygiene and safety of foods sold in the Botany Plaza, the management of PT. BLST will also encourage foods retailers to improve or renovate their stalls.
In addition, for the legal tenants in the Botany Plaza they are urged to obtain their halal certificates from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Department of Health. Erick said that certification is very important for merchants to maintain the hygiene standards and halal food processing and beverages in the region. Further, the unlicensed merchants who sells their merchandises in the sidewalk or “Sidewalk Vending”, as they are classified to do indisciplinary action, they will be prosecuted. To ensure the revitalization process will run as expected, the management of PT. BLST is currently organize the beauty contest to select the operator to manage the cleaning, parking and security program of the premises. PT BLST planned to manage the assets of IPB as well as possible to get maximum profit for the benefits of IPB. Moreover the revitalization will also improve the partnership patterns, as well as to grow and develop the entrepreneurial spirit among the university communities.
